Project Name: Hyde MUGA Court Painting Repair
Project Address: Hyde College, Greater Manchester
Size of Project: 3700m² with 3 no netball courts + 1 no football court
Works Carried Out: Colour coating to the macadam sports surface with new acrylic colour coating non-slip paint. The design specification stated that the acrylic anti-slip paint was to be a light blue and dark blue two-tone colour. Sports line marking for 3 netball courts and 1 football court was installed.
“The existing tarmac MUGA needed new coloured paint and non-slip properties so we contracted the works to Alumasc Surfacing who delivered the project within budget and on time. For any painting or colour coating projects, I would definitely recommend Alumasc Surfacing.”
Existing MUGA: The existing MUGA was a macadam sports surface specification with various sports lines applied. The games area needed refurbishing and it was decided that an acrylic coloured coating should be applied.
Spraying Non-Slip Coloured Coating: Below shows photos of the installation for the non-slip colour coating to the tarmac MUGA sports surfacing. The installation of the anti-slip paint was applied by an airless spray machine. The design specification specified dark and light blue paint.
Painting Tarmac MUGA Pitch: The coating is applied in different directions to make sure the whole sports surface is entirely covered. The coating gives a slip resistance. Slip resistance guidelines are set by governing bodies and they differ for each sport.
Completed Repainting and Sports Lines: The completed sports court was repainted and it now looks like a brand new MUGA pitch. The netball line markings are in red, and white for the football court. The non-slip coating is completed in a two-tone blue which is aesthetically pleasing and meets the accreditation set out by the governing bodies, including, AENA, ITF and LTA.
